A half-photograph, half-painting of Buffie, a young Southeast Asian person with long red hair. She wears pink glasses, a green turtleneck with a colorful vest layered on top. The painting half's background is pink, surrounded by hand drawn stars.

hello! xin chào :)

Buffie Nguyen is a Berlin-based Vietnamese illustrator, graphic recorder, art educator, and community organizer. After she decided at nine years old that drawing on her grandma’s one-sided printer paper was the bee’s knees, here she is now with a Bachelor in Illustration from the University of Applied Sciences Europe and a stack of illustration projects on her painting desk. She is known for her joyful illustration style that brings the everyday into a warm spotlight, whether through acrylic gouache paintings or digital drawings.

Incorporating personal values into her profession, Buffie’s mission is to make art that drives social change. As a queer disabled illustrator, Buffie’s art has never been apolitical despite the colorful graphic style.

Projects: T-shirts and calendars from DFTBA Records featuring her work have sold over one thousand units with all proceeds going to charity. Her illustrations have also brought to life stories such as “Sun-Pearls”, a children's book about the pearl divers of East Asia written by author Kit Ong, and Magdalena Loda’s “Karate in der Luft” that touches on the mismatch communication between hearing and deaf folks.

Buffie’s artistic life in Berlin nowadays consists of a small office in her apartment filled with zu verschenken trinkets. More recently she has started to create live visual summaries at conferences and keynotes. Aside from client work, she contributes her time and skills to mutual aids and other community projects.

I’d love to breathe life into your events through graphic recording and bringing joy through my illustrations!
